I am asked daily what does it take to lose weight? My answer? One step. Not a favorable answer to many but it's the truth. Many want a quick fix to get the weight off. In all reality it's not going to happen. I've got news for you: celebrities either workout several hours a day or have a personal chef or nutritionist…or both. Not very realistic for everyday people like you or I. So what is realistic? One step on the first day. Take one step in the right direction. The next day take another step.
What does this metaphoric step look like? Maybe your one step is reaching out to a friend to ask her/him to start walking with you. Maybe your step is signing up for a fitness class. Maybe your one step is clearing out the sweets from your house. You have to determine your one step. What is your next step? The next step would be to actually go for a short walk, attend the fitness class, or replace the sweets with fruit.
Why one step? Because it's worth it. Because we are SUPPOSED to take care of our body. You only get one body, so take care of it! The benefits of just small adjustments to your current eating habits and activity level are monumental.
As 2012 comes to an end and 2013 is on the horizon I challenge you to take one step for you. Stop thinking about it. Stop waiting for the perfect time to start. Stop waiting for your schedule to lighten up. Just do it. Be healthy for YOU. 2013 is your year. Now go take one step.
